Who we are
National Relief Program is a privately owned, independent informational website. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any government entity. We don’t issue grants, process applications, or decide who qualifies for anything. Our job is to explain programs in plain language and point you to the official agencies that run them.
Our guides are written and maintained by the National Relief Program editorial team. We don’t use bylines with individual names; the team as a whole is responsible for what we publish.
Where our information comes from
- Official sources first. Income limits, benefit amounts, deadlines, and eligibility rules come from the agencies and organizations that run each program, such as USDA, HHS, HUD, the CFPB, the IRS, state agencies, and the program’s own website.
- We link our sources so you can check them yourself.
- When sources disagree, we say so and tell you which one to follow, which is usually the agency that will decide your application.
- When something isn’t published, we say that instead of guessing.
How we keep pages current
Every page shows the date it was last updated. Figures that change on a schedule, such as SNAP limits each October and the federal poverty guidelines each January, are tracked in an update calendar and re-checked when the new official numbers come out.
Some of our older articles were written before these standards. We are reviewing and updating them, starting with the guides people read most. Program details change often, so always confirm with the official agency before you apply.
How we use technology
We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help research, draft, and update some guides. Program figures and rules are checked against the official sources linked on the page before we publish them.
Our calculators
Our calculators use published official figures and standard formulas, and they explain their math. They give estimates, not decisions. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is sent to us or stored.
Advertising and independence
- Some pages include links to sponsored partners. They are always labeled “Sponsored partner”, and using them is always optional.
- Free and official options are listed before sponsored ones.
- Sponsors don’t write, review, or approve our content, and they don’t decide which programs we cover.
- We don’t promote sweepstakes or gift-card offers. Loans are always labeled as loans that must be repaid with interest.
